Wheel
The game is made up of an arcuated wheel – called a roulette wheel – which spins. While this shiny wheel spins, a small ball is introduced by the croupier, rolling against the direction that the wheel spins. When the ball stops, it drops into one of the many pockets located around the edge of the wheel. The wheel has 37 pockets, numbered from 0 to 36 in alternating black and red colours.
Markers
Before the ball is spun on the wheel, the players place markers on the number they think the ball will drop into. The markers are placed on a green table felt which is numbered in colours and sequence. Also, the markers placed can either be individual coloured markers or cash markers, each with a specific value.
The markers may not be valued at more than 1/6000th of the base amount and a player may not place a marker down which is worth more than that on each individual number. Different players use different colours for their markers and only one of the players may use a specific colour during each game. The coloured markers must also be cashed out if a player leaves the table.
The roulette markers placed on the table revert to the player upon a win. In other words, if the ball drops into the pocket that the player was lucky enough to bet on. Ball
Before each game, the croupier must spin the ball in the opposite direction the wheel is spinning. When the ball drops into one of the 37 pockets, the croupier clearly marks it and calls out the winning number. Should something happen during the game that is considered improper, such as if the ball is affected by an external “event”, the croupier at the table stops the game and calls “replay“.
